There aren't many things we will strongly recommend, but these few will make achieving good nutritional balance much easier

Obtaining the proper balance is only possible with the proper measuring equipment. Most of our kitchens don't have them. Specificly most don't have a good food scale, a necessary tool for obtaining proper food portions. after you measure things for quite a while you will be able to guess fairly accurately when you are away from your own kitchen. I recommend a good digital food scale. If you don't have more than one set of measuring cups and spoons, you might want to check into those also.

An accurate scale is essential to be able to track progress and results. When looking for a personal scale, an informal test of scales was conducted by going to local stores and trying them against a known weight and against repeated weights. We consider digital scales more more accurate than spring scales and that seems to be varied in our test. Of the brands available to us for testing, only one came up with accurate consistent results. That was "Health O Meter" personal bathroom scale was competitively priced with the competition and often less expensive.

A good hand held computer (PDA) is highly recommended. Just about any hand held will work for now. Soon a more powerful one will be needed. I have requested a new version of the software with a full data base installed on the PDA. I would recommend a PDA with an expansion slot. We have very powerful software and I am pushing for the majority of the program to be available so busy people on the go can plan each meal with confidence. The NUTRITION SOFTWARE you buy today will need upgrades as it is improved. A better PDA now with an expansion slot will be a good investment. I don't know what other things you will be using your PDA for, so we have decided not to go with one provider but give you a convenient option with low prices and wide selection. The best prices I have found are on Amazon

nutribasescreen1.jpg Good software is the most practical and most affective way we know of of taking total control of your dietary intake. Studies have shown that people who use software to reach dietary goals are far more successful in reaching their goals. Prices for the software we recommend range from $34.95 USD for NutriBase Junior to $79.95 UDS for the NutriBase Personal Plus. We have evaluated a lot of software. Nothing we have tested even comes close to the Nutribase Personal or NutriBase Personal Plus. The difference between them is the personal supports 2 people and the personal plus supports a family of up to 10 people. The Nutribase Personal and personal plus are described on our software section.

Finally, as a grass roots on-line community, run by a 100% disabled veteran on a fixed income, this site needs sources of funding. One good source is Amazon.com. When you shop Amazon.com from this page it is win/win. You get great prices on products delivered to your door, and this site gets funding from amazon.com. The dream that is NutriCoach will take much longer to happen with out these funds. If you want this community to grow and more services made available, do your on-line shopping through this site with amazon.com. Below, you can search for specific items or just do general shopping.
